HCV+ people can become a Selected Organ Donor for their fellow HCV+ Brothers and Sisters by checking the second box and writing in - I'm HCV+ please use my liver or any organs and tissue for another HCV+ person.

 

More and more Transplant Facilities and Teams are having their HCV patients sign a consent form when listed to use HCV+ livers in better shape stage and grade then the patients to save their lives when no clean HCV- liver is available.  By doing this it can save and prolong the lives of many.  HCV returns in up to 90% post transplant in clean HCV free transplants.

 

The dire need and shortage is growing and ongoing.

Did you know that by becoming an organ donor, you can help save or improve the lives of more than 50 people? In addition, there are many ways to help promote and support organ and tissue donation.

Share Your Decision:    While you can indicate your desire to donate your organs on your driver's license and by signing and carrying an organ donor card, organ donation is always discussed with family members before the donation. To make sure that your family knows of your wishes, it is vital to discuss your decision to donate LIFE.

Promote Organ Donation:    There are many ways you can promote organ donation in your community and in the workplace. There are also many ways to educate the public about the urgent need for organ donation, including utilizing a speaker from our National Speakers Bureau or using promotional materials from the Coalition on Donation.
